ADAS Camera Calibration
Many vehicle manufacturers are already fitting the newest cars and trucks on the market with different models of ADAS technology – Advanced Driver Assistance Systems – that include cameras and sensors being present on or nearby the windshield. These systems monitor the outside of the vehicle to help the driver avoid potential collisions, usually by scanning the road ahead with a camera.
Portland ADAS Repair
Mt. Hood Glass has been successfully replacing ADAS windshields for years. We have replaced more ADAS windshields in the Portland Metro Area than anyone else.
What is ADAS?
ADAS, or Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, are being included with more and more new cars. This technology helps drivers stay in their lanes (lane-keep assist) or brake automatically in an emergency, among other safety and convenience features. These systems will eventually advance to the point where cars reliably drive themselves. Today, however, ADAS technology is not entirely reliable, and it is essential that drivers maintain their full attention to the road and not be lulled into relying upon ADAS to do any driving for them.
What does ADAS have to do with my windshield?
Current ADAS technology often relies upon a camera mounted behind the windshield among other sensing devices. When your windshield is cracked, it is important that it is replaced with the proper ADAS windshield and that your ADAS camera is precisely remounted and working correctly.
Can Mt. Hood Glass take care of this for me?
Yes. Each Mt. Hood Glass technician is trained in handling ADAS technology and is certified by the Auto Glass Safety Council.

How does Mt. Hood Glass take care of ADAS?
Mt. Hood Glass always does what is in the best interest of our customer. We never cut corners on safety. We also never charge for unnecessary products or services.
We maintain the functionality of your ADAS system by precisely installing OEM equivalent glass and by precisely remounting your ADAS camera as it was from the factory.
For your ADAS camera to work properly, your replacement windshield must be made to the same specifications as your original windshield. Car companies and their dealers do not make glass; they buy their glass from glass makers. We buy our glass directly from the same glass makers that make the glass for the car companies. The glass we install is made to the same original equipment (OEM) specifications, by the same manufacturers, as the glass originally installed in your vehicle.

FAQ’s
Do I need to recalibrate my ADAS if I replace my windshield?
Yes, you should always have your ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) re-calibrated after replacing your windshield. ADAS cameras control such systems as blind spot monitors, collision avoidance systems, driver drowsiness detection, and lane departure systems. Even if you are not seeing a warning light after replacing your windshield, the camera could be out of calibration. If your new windshield is not an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) windshield, it is most likely not manufactured to the same exact specs as the original manufacturer. Therefore, it may be slightly off calibration and the ADAS will not work correctly. A misaligned camera could definitely endanger the operation of the ADAS system and cause a major accident or injury.
